About Blast Creative Music

Blast Creative Music was established by musician and composer Stephen Clee to provide exciting and innovative music based education workshops and projects and as a home for all his creative output.

Stephen Clee graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University having completed a Bmus (hons) degree in Music, specialising in composition and orchestration. Much of his work since then has been involved in education, working as a freelance community musician creating and delivering projects that engage people in musical composition. This work has involved Arts Council Lottery funded projects and regeneration work as well as 'Composer in Residence' positions for music festivals. In addition to his community work, Stephen also lectures in music Midkent College and teaches guitar at St Edmonds Independent School & Kings School in Canterbury Kent.

His compositions have received public performances by performers from across Britain and mainland Europe which have included the Choir of Canterbury Cathedral and guitarist Johannes Moller. His most ambitious project has been Behind Closed Doors: The Story of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde, a stage musical based on the popular gothic story by Robert Louis Stevenson which was performed to sell out audiences at its premier. Most recently he has provided music for stage productions of Tim Supple and Melly Still's dramatisation of 'Beasts & Beauties' and Jeffery Hatcher's romantic period drama 'Complete Female Stage Beauty'.

As a performer he has worked on a number of shows playing either guitar or bass including Mel Brooks 'The Producers' and classics such as 'Little Shop of Horrors'. This is mixed with solo work as a classical guitarist along with performing as electric guitar and bassist in various small ensembles for specific events as well as part of the rhythm section of a number of Big Band orchestras.
